The Trek

In my first blog you will learn all about my trek:

l will fly together with 39 other Childreach International entusiasts from Nottingham Trent University during the summer months of 2012 heading to Beijing, where I will spend the  day in the city, exploring and sampling the local culture...

Day 3 :
This is when I actually begin the expedition where the Great Wall meets the vast Pacific Ocean at ‘Old Dragon’s Head’, I will get to sample the temples and monasteries in the area.

Day 4 :
This is a trek through the jungle – sampling the breath-taking views of rural China! That night I even get to make Chinese dumplings... This is going to be a challenge in itself!

Day 5 :
This consists of a hike up to the dramatic ruins and panoramas of Cihou tower.

Day 6 :
This is a chance to visit the tombs of the royal Emperors.

Day 7 :
I believe this will be the most challenging day consisting of a trek from the Huangyaguan Fortress, up to the top of ‘Heaven’s Ladder’, this means summiting four peaks!... in case you haven't guessed this entails walking up A LOT of steps... roughly 900, a chance to tone those legs! Anyone for a hike up a mountain when I get back, i'll race you?

Day 8 :
I will be witnessing the contrast between the ‘wild wall’ (the unrestored section of the wall) and the stretch of restored splendour... and a chance for a little bit of scrambling in the process. During this day I will also get to view the majestic Chinese mountains from a boat and see a part of the wall that is now under water. I am most looking forward to this day, the Chinese mountains is something that i'm very excited about :)

Day 9 :
This is a chance to sample the ‘wild wall’ again, a chance to scramble along one of the seven wonder’s of the world... it’s also a chance to try out my new skill of Chinese dumpling making for dinner! (Let's hope I get it the first time)

Day 10 :
Today I will be aching but full of celebrations... The end of all the hard work.

This is the travel itinerary, and I hope this has made you realise this is no holiday!

This is going to be the hardest physical challenge i've faced by far but I need your help to be able to get there!

I'm also not doing this selfishly and am under taking this challenge for Childreach International (please see my next blog for details of the work they do, it deserves a whole blog!)

Please donate generously as the fundraising goal is set at £2500. Just click on the link below and follow the instructions.

Thank you :)
